What comes to mind when you think of "made-to-measure"?
How about "custom clothing"?
Do you have visions of hours spent at a tailor and thousands of dollars for a bespoke suit?
That's what I used to think, but that's way off the mark...
The jeans and t-shirt I'm wearing in the pics above were custom-made for me! Jeans and a t-shirt!!
Made-to-measure isn't just for suiting. More and more brands offer a wide variety of custom-made clothing. You have full control over the details and measurements of your clothing. It's personal, fast, and just plain cool.
This white tee is from a brand called Son Of A Tailor- a Danish label specializing in made-to-measure tees. They give you a guide to take a few basic measurements at home (either on your body, or based on your favorite tee). You plug them in, choose the color, pocket and seams, and get a custom tee a few weeks later! Son Of A Tailor will make a custom pattern just for you, so every detail is exact. I love this one and will definitely pick up another. Maybe navy? Or should I do black?
The denim is from Talley NYC. Every pair of jeans they make is made-to-order. They create a "certificate of birth" to show you where the fabric was sourced, where it was constructed and where it was washed. Each pair has a personalized GIN (garment identification number) and you'll receive email updates to let you know where your jeans are in the process. It's awesome because it's transparency in manufacturing. You know where your clothing came from and that it was made just for you. I opted for the skinny, dusty wash denim. It has an extra seam on the side for added tailoring through the thigh. Love em!
So there you go- A whole new world of custom clothing is out there. And it's affordable!!
Check out these brands and let me know how you customized your gear. I love seeing the product journey from start to finish and this is a great way to get involved in that process.
