Boating in the City- with Sperry Cup
*This post is written in paid partnership with Sperry. All thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own.
When I worked in retail, there was a collection that came out every January we called “Jan Pack”. It was one of those in-between-season collections. It’s not quite spring, but everyone is completely over winter. It always had a nautical theme. The sweaters were usually cotton or cotton-cashmere (rather than wool), and despite the fact that it was spring-forward, it encouraged layering. It was resort-wear, with a city POV.
I loved it because the collection was shades of blue and grey and I’m a sucker for preppy, nautical style. I’m obsessed with striped tees, classic peacoats, chinos and boat shoes! It’s a look that never goes out of style and always feels fresh.
I have worn Sperry Boat shoes every spring and summer for as long as I can remember. They’re classic, comfortable and give every look a little nautical edge, regardless of whether or not you’re actually on a boat. They're my go-to anytime I’m sporting a ‘jan pack’ look!
Sperry has been hand-sewing boat shoes since 1935! They set the benchmark for what makes a quality boat shoe (things like rust-proof eyelets and leather that resists the effects of water). Now, they’re making updates! Their new Sperry Cup takes the upper of a classic boat shoe, and puts the cup sole of a sneaker on it. It has even more padding than before, so it’s perfect for running around the city all day!
I always wear socks, even when you can’t see them. I’m wearing Sperry’s no-show socks here. I would probably go without them if I knew I was getting wet on a boat, but for everyday wear, they’re perfect.
It’s a bit early for boating on the Cape, but I will be rocking this nautical style from now till fall!
