Worn In And Worn Out During NYFW:M
Your first inclination as a blogger attending New York Fashion Week is to dress over the top.
You want to stand out.
You want be on-trend.
You want to wear bold colors— all in the hopes of being photographed by the swarm of street photographers standing outside the shows.
But God, how exhausting!
Don’t get me wrong, I loved my burgundy suit and floral shirt combo (it was bold for me, but pretty tame in comparison to what you actually see out there during Fashion Week), but it’s literally the hottest week of the Summer!! I spent a lot of time outside, running between shows and appointments, so I was kinda over it by the end of the day.
Sweaty Betty over here.
Plus, Fashion Week is a time to step up your game a bit, but you still have to stay true to your personal style. If you look at the main lists of people with “the best street style” during the week, it’s mostly just a group of editors wearing their everyday clothes. Nothing crazy.
So for Day 2 of NYFW:M, I flipped the style switch and teamed up with Crosby Square for something a little more casual.
These Crosby Square oxfords are dressed up enough to attend any Fashion Week event, but the suede gives them an almost rugged, worn in appeal. They would work with a suit, but I dressed them down with cropped joggers and a short sleeve button down. I wanted a bit more ease to my look and something akin to my usual style.
Suede oxfords are also the best transitional shoe for Summer into Fall (in my opinion). The light brown color is perfect right now, but there is something so “classically Fall” about suede.
This same shoe comes in a boot version, which might seriously need to be a thing in my closet in about a month.
I didn’t post too much from the runway. I kept everything mostly to Snapchat, so make sure you’re following ‘themodernotter’ to catch any events, shows, or parties I happen to be at!
Here are a few of my favorite brands from the week you definitely need to check out on social media though. Their shows were killer:
