Tennis Club
Printed chinos are not easy to pull off. The key is to wear them with a lot of confidence and have a 'yeah i'm wearing floral chinos, what of it?' kind of attitude. You want to wear the print, not let the print wear you. Since the focus is all on the pants, stick with solid colored shirts and accessories. You don't want your shirt to compete for attention and mixing multiple patterns may make you look like a Magic Eye.
Designers have been showing silk and terrycloth PJ's on the runway for the last few seasons as an alternative to a man's dress shirt. I think wearing pajamas to work is a bit much... but I found this polo with PJ inspired details at Club Monaco and I think it is the perfect balance of a basic item with elevated details. It's more than just a polo.
The print and polo had me thinking of a 1950's Tennis or Yacht club so I threw on some rounded sunglasses and white sneakers (my mother calls them Tennis Shoes) and sat out by the Chelsea Piers. How are you spending your weekend?
