NYMD- SS 16'
This week we saw the inaugural launch of New York Fashion Week: Men's!! It's an extremely exciting time for menswear and a great opportunity for smaller labels to gain the exposure they deserve. The decision to create a Men's Week came from the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America), and we are all extremely grateful.
To kick off my recaps of the week, we're looking only at Day 1 and NYMD. New York Men's Day was established a few years ago by Agentry PR as a platform for their brands to show their collections in one single event. It has since grown and folded neatly into NYFW:M.
Below are the designs I loved and the clothes I need! I'll keep it brief and let the clothes do the talking! Let me know what you think in the comment section below!!
CADET- "The Filthy 13"
A WWII inspired collection that has my name written all over it. I loved the urban warrior feel in the detailing. Yet it's precise and clean. I need it all!
Obsessed with the fabrics in this collection. Rumpled cottons and linens. The head-to-toe neutrals that have such depth. Definitely some great cues on how to layer in the Spring.
HVRMINN & Co
It's like walking into a modern day mob flick. Great use of proportion. Slim, short trousers with oversized jackets. The camo look with the Panama hat is killer. Right?!
A man not afraid of color!! So much of the week was neutral or head-to-toe bright color. It was refreshing to see unique color combinations in a single look. His collection was inspired by Bauhaus, the arts and crafts school in the 20's. Its clear in his color choices and prints. And those two tone sunglasses!
So? What do you think? There's plenty more from Day 1 to see, these were just my favorites!!
