Incognito
It was set to rain the other day and I really didn’t feel like lugging an umbrella all over the city (I usually carry a long London Undercover). I had meetings all day and Mike and I were going to see a play at night, so I needed a look that would protect me from the “Spring” shower but was dapper enough for an evening at the theatre.
Thankfully, I have this lightweight, water resistant parka from Club Monaco. The dramatic collar actually has a hood folded up inside of it. It’s an easy throw on piece and still works layered over a blazer and denim. The hat is purely to protect my hair. Though it has a certain Western flair I’m digging right now.
My biggest issue is always: what shoes do I wear in the rain?
Most of mine are suede or sneakers, which don't lend themselves to dressy events or any kind of water. Leather boots won’t work for every season and Hunter boots are a little much if you’re actually going to dinner or living a normal life.
That’s where these Timberland oxfords come in. They’re waterproof! They coated the leather in some special chemical that protects it, and the tongue of the shoe is sealed all the way to the top so water doesn’t soak through.
They’re utility meets dapper and they solve all of my weather related problems. Genius!
