Otter Expedition: Portsmouth, NH

New England adventures are quickly becoming our favorite kind of vacation! After staying with Lark Hotels in Newport, Stowe and Plum Island, we jumped at the chance to check out their Portsmouth, New Hampshire location! 

We love Lark Hotels. Their small-format properties are right up our alley. Cozy, incredibly well styled, always run by a great team and in the most charming towns in the US. The Hotel Portsmouth was no different! You can add it (and Newburyport near Plum Island) to our list of places we would love to settle down someday. 

Portsmouth is a relatively small town, so once you park, you can walk around your entire stay. There are a ton of great restaurants and museum walks, and since it's right by the water, you can hop on a boat or eat along the marina anytime you want! 

Both Portsmouth and Plum Island are short drives from Boston, so they're super easy to get to from NYC. We like to make a long weekend out of it (Thurs-Sun), so we can fully settle in. I knew nothing about the area, so I relied on YOU GUYS on Instagram for a few restaurant recommendations! These were some of the most popular suggestions:

• Ceres Bakery
• Moe's Subs
• Black Trumpet
• 2 Block Six
• Red Door (a unmarked speakeasy in town)
• Cava Mediterranean 
• Cure

And the list goes on and on! We were only there for a few days, so we'll have to plan another trip to try more of these out. I was also a huge fan of Sault, the Menswear shop in town. Really well curated and merchandised! They have a sister store in Boston too. 

Speaking of menswear that I love, I'm obsessed with these Westward Leaning sunglasses! They come with three different interchangeable lenses that clip onto the tortoise shell glasses. They're retro and cool and perfect for the Summer. You can even customize your own pair of sunglasses on their site. Absolutely my favorite Summer accessory this year. 

SHOP THE LOOK:

When Mike and I were in Key West, he planned to take me on a sail boat on my birthday, but we were rained out at the last minute. Those tropical storms come out of nowhere! Portsmouth gave me the perfect opportunity to try a second time to get out on the water! We sailed on the Dream, and had such a fun time! It was a perfect way to end our trip and remarkably affordable if you take a few friends along with you. We packed rose, cheese and crackers and made a bougie thing of it. ;)

I clearly did not want to leave!! There's nothing like escaping the craziness of the city for a few days to a quiet town on the coast. It will continue to be my favorite thing to do. 

Where should we go next?! I'm thinking Maine??
