Decking the Halls with Pier 1 Imports
The Holidays are here!! Which means it’s time to deck the halls of my apartment with Christmas cheer! I partnered with Pier 1 Imports, and used their wide range of seasonal décor to make my home feel like a cozy winter wonderland! I’m so excited to share with you what I found.
Decorating is one of my favorite activities. Even when I’m at family gatherings, I’m responsible for the centerpiece, flower arrangements and layout of the cheese board. Mike and I had a long tradition of walking to pick out a Christmas tree at one of those sidewalk tree lots in NYC. We’d drag it back to our apartment and decorate it together over a glass of wine. We held onto the decorating part of that tradition, but have discovered the beauty of NYC Christmas tree delivery services! They will even set it up for me in my living room. It’s a total game changer for us city dwellers.
Putting up decorations really gets me in the holiday spirit, especially with that fresh evergreen smell filling up the apt. When I was planning the overall ‘theme’ for our décor, I wanted it to feel masculine and cozy, with nothing too flashy. Everything I picked out was in a grey, cream and gold color palette and has some sort of texture. It all feels warms, and is a really nice change from the pops of red that I usually do for Christmas. It’s more chic.
Pier 1 Imports has these beautiful cream cable-knit stockings that paired perfectly with the Merry Christmas pillow I used on the sofa. The key to integrating seasonal décor is not to change everything in your home. Don’t move furniture or hang new paintings, just add a few new pillows, a throw blanket in a new color and candles to your mantle. Little touches here and there go a long way without being too overstated.
I added a small grey and gold bowl to our coffee table centerpiece and grounded the books in this metal tray from Pier 1’s Magnolia Home collaboration. I have a fair number of throws already, but I needed a place to put them all, so I found a rustic woven basket for the corner of the room. Pier 1 has a few with colored bands around the bottom that would be fantastic if you are doing a red or green theme. I also added a little sparkle with a lantern filled with wire lights and three votive candle holders that spell out “joy”. Pier 1 has collections that include trends from all over the world, so there’s something for everyone.
For the tree, I found these little branches of frosted white pine cones from Pier 1. You weave them into the branches of the tree like you would Christmas tree lights and then spread the pinecones out so they look natural. They add so much depth to the tree and look incredibly elevated! I love them! I opted for a eucalyptus wreath on our door because I loved the splash of gold and it felt different than your traditional evergreen wreath.
THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS (from Pier 1):
I love having a decked-out apartment because it means I can throw holiday parties! I love having people over this time of year. Last year, we hosted an “Ugly Sweater Christmas Cookie Bake-Off”. I asked all of my guests to make their favorite or most original cookie, and we voted for a winner. It’s such a fun tradition! Pier 1 Imports has a ton of ideas for entertaining throughout the year, so I know it’ll look great when we host it again.
What are some of your Holiday traditions?! Do you deck the halls and throw parties, or are you a low-key Holiday person?
