Men's tailoring gets so boring. How many checkered shirts and coordinating ties does it take before we switch it up?

My partner says I'm always somewhere in between business and causal. In truth, I just want to find interesting combinations. I think the mix of the two sets you apart.

For this look, I took two tailored pieces: cropped wool trousers and the vest from my favorite Rag & Bone suit, and paired them with boots and a whole bunch of denim. It's the mixture of tweed, denim and wool that really makes the combo work. When you wear solid colors, there should be different shades and textures in the fabric for visual interest. I'm not saying this is office appropriate, I'm just saying you'll stand out for being more original than the next Dapper Dan (I hope that's not the name of a blogger.... no shade intended :P).

The tie is from General Knot. In addition to being from my hometown (Bedford, NY!!), they share my love for unique takes on menswear! All of their ties are made in small batches from rare and vintage fabrics. The result is a collection of rugged, lived-in, yet dapper accessories. This one is made out of Japanese denim. Ditch your silk tie for something with a story, I say.

I still love a good suit and tie from time to time, but who else is ready to think outside the dapper box?

General Knot tie / Levi's denim jacket / Rag & Bone vest (similar) / Uniqlo denim shirt / Zara trousers / Cat Footwear boots
