Summer Refresh

I approach interior design with the same filters as I do my closet: start with a strong foundation of neutrals (in my case, grey and navy) and build on color depending on the season. 

With that in mind, refreshing your home is as easy as changing a pillow case or two! 

And it looks like you put in a hell of a lot more work than you actually did.  

Grey and navy go with everything. That’s the beauty of those two colors! A few hits of yellow go a long way, but we could have easily gone with green, orange, coral, purple… any color as long as we’re consistent.

For this year’s Summer refresh, Lacoste Home hooked us up with new bedding and a few pops of color our bedroom was desperately missing.

I love white sheets. They’re classic, sophisticated, and make for a great lazy Saturday morning Instagram pic in bed. ;)

This set is brushed twill cotton and is wrinkle resistant! A huge plus, and if you read my last post about 100% linen sheets, you’d agree these are the better option. 

In keeping with Lacoste’s sporty design aesthetic, the pattern on the comforter is reminiscent of the grid on a tennis court. A lot of Lacoste Home’s bedding utilize the same prints, textures and colors from their ready-to-wear. It’s a really cool tie in and adds a sporty edge to the room.

A few of my other favorite things around the room: 

-a plaster cast of Michelangelo’s David’s eye I picked up at the British Museum, 

-my favorite Diptyque candle, Baies,

-an indigo batik throw I found at the Chelsea flea market, 

-and above the bed, a collection of my drawings of places Mike and I have gone on dates.

I’m still missing one! Any suggestions of an iconic place we can go to fill the space?

The key to my interior design is to keep things clean and cohesive.
